A guerrilla campaign in New York raising awareness of Korean “comfort women.”
A guerrilla campaign in New York raising awareness of Korean “comfort women.”

Overview

This guerrilla campaign highlighted the unresolved history of Korean women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. Despite being historically documented, the issue remains underrecognized, and Japan has yet to issue a formal apology. I reproduced a survivor’s painting titled Taken at life-size scale and installed it across New York City, drawing public attention, inviting solidarity, and receiving gratitude from organizations supporting the survivors.
